OSVDB Personal Edition top

OSVDB has released OSVDB Personal Edition. It is an easy to install Ruby on Rails application that takes advantage of our SQLite database exports. It is intended to be a proof-of-concept regarding the flexibility of our dataset, and a great albeit simple example of things that could be made possible via our exports.

If you wish to keep your copy of Personal Edition up to date, you should download the SQLite exports regularly from the Downloads page.

This software is released as is, with no warantee, and is released under the OSVDB License, which you Accept by downloading the software.

After downloading, extract it and read the README file.


  Mozilla Search top

The Mozilla OSVDB Search utility will add the option to search OSVDB directly from your web browser's side bar or search box. This will work in the Mozilla-based browsers: FireFox, Mozilla, Beonex, and Netscape.

Install the OSVDB Search (JavaScript required).

Mozilla (left): Select OSVDB in the search bar, type a query in the text box and press the "enter" key.
Firefox (right): Select OSVDB in the search box, type a query in the text box and press the "enter" key.

Simply install the Mozilla OSVDB Search to start using this feature in your browser.

Note: to install without using JavaScript, download the source and the icon. They should be installed according to the instructions found here.

  OSVDB Export XML (DEPRECATED) top

PostgreSQL and MySQL tools (DEPRECATED):

Note: These tools have been deprecated and my not work. Instead, take advantage of the new export formats available on the Download Page.

  • xmldbImport.pl - Use this import tool to import the XML data into a MySQL or PostgreSQL database.
  • Readme - README for the import tool for MySQL or PostgreSQL database.
  • runPostgreSQLImport.sh - Listing of commands required to import database.
