Why should you volunteer to work for OSVDB? top

OSVDB needs the support of everyone to succeed. Using osvdb.org, referencing vulnerabilities in reports for clients, and spreading the word about OSVDB is a great way to help the project. However, we also have a strong need for volunteers to donate time to help the project succeed.

Volunteering for OSVDB is very rewarding. Here are just a few of the reasons our current contributors work on the project:

Personal and Career Growth
  • The OSVDB project is extremely popular, and all volunteers receive proper recognition
  • Volunteering for any non-profit community project makes a great resume item--volunteering for a security project is even better for a security professional
  • OSVDB counts as security work experience towards completion of requirements for CISSP certification (and potentially others)
  • Work for OSVDB can be viewed by potential employers and help provide accreditation for your experience and knowledge
  • OSVDB speaking opportunities
The OSVDB Community
  • Get invited to OSVDB events at different conferences/locations
  • Eligibility for OSVDB sponsored contests
  • Create contacts with other OSVDB volunteers
Technology
  • Learn about new products (and of course their vulnerabilities)
  • Learn more about the products you use and their risks
  • Help protect your organization by keeping up with the latest vulnerabilities
Industry
  • OSVDB is influencing how the security industry obtains and views vulnerability information, and you can have a voice to help OSVDB
  • Help increase security and awareness world wide
  • Contribute to the security community in a meaningful and significant way
