BackWPup Plugin for WordPress contains a flaw that allows a remote attacker to traverse outside of a restricted path. The issue is due to the wp-content/plugins/backwpup/app/options-view_log-iframe.php script not properly sanitizing user input, specifically directory traversal style attacks (e.g., ../../) supplied via the 'wpabs' parameter. This directory traversal attack would allow the attacker to access arbitrary files.

Upgrade to version 1.4.1 or higher, as it the vendor has reported it as fixing this vulnerability. An upgrade is required as there are no known workarounds. Secunia has reported that version 1.5.2 is still vulnerable, however, so it is likely this solution did not actually address the vulnerability.
