Description

A buffer overflow exists in Mac OS X. The CoreFoundation component fails to validate directory hierarchies resulting in a buffer overflow. With a specially crafted directory path, a local attacker can cause arbitrary code execution resulting in a loss of integrity.

Solution

Upgrade to version 10.4.11 or higher, as it has been reported to fix this vulnerability. An upgrade is required as there are no known workarounds. A patch is available for 10.3.9.
