Description

A remote overflow exists in SonicWALL SSL-VPN NetExtender ActiveX control. The control fails to enforce string lengths resulting in a stack overflow. With a specially crafted request, a context-dependent attacker can execute arbitrary code remotely as the user.

Technical

NELaunchX.dll versions before 2.1.0.51, and 2.5.x before 2.5.0.56 are vulnerable to a stack-based buffer oveflow.

Solution

Upgrade to version 2.5 for SonicWALL SSL VPN 2000/4000, and version 2.1 for SonicWALL SSL-VPN 200 or higher, as it has been reported to fix this vulnerability. An upgrade is required as there are no known workarounds.
