Technical

This vulnerability is due to a flaw in WebKit, a third party open source browser engine. By itself, WebKit is not a functioning program for web browsing. The vulnerability is manifested when used by browsers such as Safari or Chrome. Due to the integration of WebKit with a browser, it may alter how the vulnerability manifests and could be significantly different between programs or browsers. Because of these reasons, this entry has been split out and replaces a single entry for WebKit.

Solution

Upgrade to version 4.0.4 or higher, as it has been reported to fix this vulnerability. An upgrade is required as there are no known workarounds.
