A local overflow exists in Apple iTunes. The media player fails to perform proper bounds checking on media file cover art resulting in a heap overflow. With a specially crafted file, a context-dependent attacker can cause arbitrary code execution resulting in a loss of integrity.

The security fix released to patch this vulnerability also reportedly deletes user-generated ringtones on associated phones, while enabling the purchase of ringtones from the iTunes music store.
Solution
Upgrade to version 7.4 or higher, as it has been reported to fix this vulnerability. An upgrade is required as there are no known workarounds.
