The program 'pinentry' is not SGID root by default and can not be leveraged for additional privileges as a result of a default installation. This vulnerability only manifests because the installation process on Gentoo Linux incorrectly sets the SGID bit.
Solution
Gentoo users need to upgrade to version 0.7.2-r2 or higher, as it has been reported to fix this vulnerability. An upgrade is required as there are no known workarounds.
